May 30-August 10, 2002
My duty will be to use GIS to identify culturally diverse neighborhoods in which preservation has served to improve the economy, bolster cultural diversity and improve the quality of life in historic neighborhoods. I will also use GIS to give the radius of distinguished developers with proven track records in historic preservation with whom the National Trust’s $25 million Banc of America Historic Tax Credit Fund could partner.

Intern would conduct market research activities to aid in the acquisition of historic tax credit investments. These investments serve as catalysts for the economic revitalization of commercial districts and residential neighborhoods in historically distinctive areas. The objectives are to 1) identify culturally diverse neighborhoods in which preservation has served to improve the economy, bolster cultural diversity and improve the quality of life in historic neighborhoods, and 2) identify developers with proven track records in historic preservation with whom the National Trust’s $25 million Banc of America Historic Tax Credit Fund could partner.
This information will allow the Fund to evaluate the market for historic tax credit investments and will lay the foundation for a public relations/outreach plan that will ultimately expand the reach of the Fund’s services into the historic preservation/real estate community. Through this process, the intern will gain an in-depth understanding of preservation and community development activity and its capacity to impact culturally diverse neighborhoods and commercial areas.
Overall supervision will be provided by Fund Manger Christine Fedukowski,
but day to day guidance will be provided by Fund Financial Analyst, Jon
Beck. David A. Padgett, Director of the TSU
